8:45am REGIONAL DRUG TRENDS

The Drug Enforcement Administration will highlight emerging drug trends within our local region.

Presented by Laura A. Hendrick, Field Intelligence Manager for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Philadelphia Field Division.

10:00am EMERGING THREATS

Addresses the recent surge of methamphetamine and fentanyl use in the area, as well as the new threat of gabapentin, an anticonvulsant which is gaining traction in being used illicitly.

Presented by Rachel Rock, MA, Program Implementation Specialist for PERU’s Community Health Initiative at the Univeristy of Pittsburgh.

11:10am RISKS OF VAPING

This discussion will approach the use of vaping, or “juuling”, which is prevalent among the youth population in the region. This presentation will focus on the facts, side effects and outline preventative measures to stop the use of such products.

Presented by Michelle Gwinn Nutter, Pennsylvania-certified teacher, Education and Outreach Program Manager, and Civil Rights Outreach Specialist.

The conference will conclude with a Q&A with a panel of specialists and will cover how we, as a community, combat these emerging drug trends as well as answer any questions participants may have from the conference.
